Senate Bill 57 amends the Arkansas Code to set maximum fee limits for various services provided by the Arkansas State Medical Board, including medical corporation registration, physician licensure, and respiratory care practitioner registration. The bill explicitly prohibits the Board from increasing or establishing fees that exceed the statutory amounts specified in the relevant sections of the code. Furthermore, it establishes a mechanism allowing the Board to reduce fees below these statutory caps if such a reduction is determined to be in the best interest of the state. To implement any such fee reduction, the Board must undergo an administrative rule-making process and obtain approval from the Governor as well as either the Legislative Council or, if the General Assembly is in session, the Joint Budget Committee.
