Senate Bill 576 amends the Arkansas Code regarding the authority of the Arkansas Public Service Commission (APSC) to recover costs from certain electric public utilities. Specifically, the bill increases the annual limit for the direct recovery of fees and expenses incurred by the APSC for contract attorneys and consultants. Under current law, the APSC is authorized to recover up to $3,000,000 annually from eligible electric public utilities owned by a public utility holding company. This bill raises that annual recovery cap to $5,000,000 per calendar year. The legislation maintains the existing criteria for which utilities are subject to these recovery rules.
